Well done! Congrats!
First, congrats! Next, I'd say really consider where you like the people most/if you have any mentors at any of these places. You'll get an top notch skillset at any of the above, and for every 100 different exits, 98 will be open to you no matter where you choose amongst this group.
One thing that may be helpful to know is which groups at PJT, EVR, and LAZ. If you're interested in restructuring then PJT is as good as it gets. If you're interested in M&A, then at least amongst the boutiques, I view EVR/LAZ (really Centerview, but not at analyst level) as also the absolute top tier. With that however, I've been really impressed with the analysts I've seen from Moelis and I think an M&A and restructuring generalist program is very valuable considering most 20 year olds don’t know what they want to do with their life.
Oh, and the only way you make the wrong choice is if you base your decision on what you're told the most "elite" is (what's more elite Yale or Princeton?), or based on which pays the highest first year comp. I'd argue neither of those things should even be receiving any weight when deciding amongst the offers you have. Congrats again!
I have heard time and again that PJT & Evercore do not have face-time policies whereas Lazard & Moelis do.
This. You'll get the same looks from all 3 - so why not got to EVR or PJT where you'll have a more balanced lifestyle.
Moelis, in particular, is rough from talking to friends.
Lol "more balanced" lifestyle at PJT or EVR? They still work you to the bone. All elite boutiques are by their nature sweatshops. Laz and Moelis more so, but PJT and EVR still work very, very hard, and much harder than most BB groups.
I'd say Evercore. They have a stronger brand than PJT and Moelis which are still much smaller, and they have better lifestyle and comp than Lazard which is roughly similar in footprint now. They have great exits, absolute top comp, and the culture there is really great. When they say flat and open, they really mean it, much more so than really anywhere else I've experienced. Mentorship culture, and their summer program is super constructed and they do a lot of fun stuff with you.
One caveat is if you want to do RX, which case you should think PJT (if your offer is for RSSG) or perhaps think about Moelis which gives interns exposure to both, as well as Laz, which also has a generalist program.
was in the same position, took PJT
Had to choose between 3 of these and went with PJT. PM me
Not sure how much you're willing to post here (I can't PM yet) but how do you feel about the decision now? Any +ve or -ve surprises?
EVR and PJT are probably your closest comps in the group - can't go wrong with either but I took PJT as well.
