which one?.. BIG difference
and hopefully not equities
I work in trading on a FI desk. I don't think I can go any further than that.
Hey, I'm an IBD guy, and was wondering why is there such a negative connotation associated with the equities desk people amongst the S/T folks? Also, at Goldman, is equities seen as the bottom of the barrel?
It depends what area of equities we are talking about. Plain Vanilla equity S/T is sort of a joke, especially sales. Equity derivs is a good area to be in though.
brown 3.19? looks like daddy has some friends.
Or, I applied through career services, interviewed, and was accepted.
yup
DB
Bro, the are people sitting next to, across, in front of, and behind me with GPAs in the 3.0-3.3 range.
so whats your excuse?
If you're asking what my excuse is for my grades than you'll be thoroughly disappointed with my answer. I simply didn't care. Do I regret not getting a 3.5? Sure. Do I stress over it? No. I have a great job in the greatest city in the world.
karma, don't be a hater. 3.19 from an Ivy league isn't too shabby..
what's so bad about plain vanilla equity? I'm doing rotational S&T this summer through equities/ficc...
Yeah whats with the bad rep for the equities crowd? Is that where they put the dumbasses?
For the most part, yes. Plain vanilla equities is a desk that nobody really wants to be on. The spreads are razor thin and any idiot can trade equities. Govies are getting that way also. The best advice I can give is to try to understand derivs.
popped colla, i had your back on the gpa shit so answer me this question....are you black, or just decided it would be funny to add 'whoa nigga' to your name?? nothing personal, just wondering though..
This is getting a little too close for comfort, let me just say that I "can" use that word.
I'm not trying to ID you man...just wonderin if/why a whiteboy is putting whoa nigga in their name
that's a pretty low gpa. I'm guessing you aren't on a quant heavy desk.
Well, I am on a FI derivitives desk. Quant? No, not in the purest sense. More math than IBD? Yes, bond math.
Because I'm not white.
