Possible to lateral to Corporate Banking/Investment Banking role if you aren't currently working in IB?
Just wrapped up 1 year in a Corp. Finance role.
I would imagine I would be applying as an Experienced hire, and it seems like every listing requires previous IB experience. At this point, what are my options? Just try for top MBA --> then Associate?
Keep networking and try and go into a role that has more transactional work like corp dev/internal M&A.
I will say that having done it, it is really tough. I started FT in a FP&A type role in a top FLDP and even with an ivy background and previous boutique IB internship I got a lot of no's. But that's the beauty of job recruiting, only took one yes.
