Problem with traveling internationall

Hello there,

I have recently submitted apps for entry level consulting positions but I just realized that I may not even be suited for the job given my immigrant status. i have deferred action (DACA), for those that don't know, it gives undocumented immigrants work authorization and SSN. Traveling abroad requires prior approval from the gov and is a long process. It is not the same thing as a Visa.
Do most consultants have to travel internationally?? Or can you choose to just fly domestic? (is this even an option?-what would employers think of this situation.... automatic rejection??)

Thanks

One option is to look into public sector work, you can be fairly certain that you'll travel domestic only because... that's where the US government is located.

That's my input, some others may be able to talk about options at bigger companies.

Nothing short of everything will really do.

A lot more people want international projects than there are...so if you don't want international projects, it shouldn't be a problem. The one exception may be McKinsey, as they are the only firm with an international staffing model, so I'd just check on that (They are usually very flexible with immigration statuses though, so I'm sure you could make it work) .

This. Just tell the staffing folks that you aren't interested in travelling internationally. You shouldn't even have to mention why. Early in your career this is all you need to do. The only way this could be a problem is if, further down the line, there is a project that really wants you and you have to give them a firm "no" because the role they have for you requires international travel -- but that won't be relevant early in your career.
