Providence PE / PSG
anyone had experience with either Providence PE or Providence Strategic Growth (PSG)? Interested to know about culture, people, deals, comp, business model (i.e. is PSG sourcing heavy?) Any information would be great.

Hey NYCHobby, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I'm here since nobody responded to your thread! Bummer...could just be time of day or unlucky (or the question/topci is too vague or too specific). Maybe one of these topics will help:

I only know PSG, they’re fairly unique among growth firms in that they’ve REALLY leaned into the buy-and-build strategy. They’ll do the classic “minority growth + spend more on sales and marketing” thing, but the true calling card has been platforms like Tribute Tech, Ministry Brands, etc. where they bought 40-50 things to create a platform, did some light synergies (monetizing payments, etc) and made a ton of money.
I get the impression returns are good but have to imagine this strategy is absolutely BRUTAL on juniors from a sourcing + execution perspective. But at least you’ll get hella deal reps!
This is true.
Some sourcing work but generally associates getting worked on the execution of a ton of roll ups. Have heard a RUMOR that there is some compensation tied to deals sourced / closed so if you “game the system” and focus on roll ups vs. platform investments you can make significantly more.
Anyone know how their Europe fund is doing? Also I understand that they have a separate sourcing team from the "investment team". Do you still do heavy sourcing if you're in the investment team?
