Qube RT vs Athena Capital Research

Hi guys,

I am trying to make a decision between Qube RT and Athena Capital Research to join as a quant researcher. Athena, historically more High-freq tries to expand a bit whereas I'd be joining an experienced team in Qube. I don't have any firm offer at this stage, not sure to leave my current position either (sell-side).

I don't know much about the cultures in the two firm, I didn't find much on comp either. Do you guys have some experience with the two firms, what can you share?

What is there to decide when you don't have a firm offer yet?

Don't know much about Athena. Qube is supposed to be quite collegial, single manager type of a setup. Virtually no chance of moving up to PM, and bonuses are discretionary. Some people do not like that.

How far along the interviews are you with each firm? I don't know what exactly you are looking for, but if there are any more rounds you should probably find out more about general things like the comp structure and internal opportunities at least.

Trying to get a sense of the two firms beforehand to get more time to think about these opportunities.

I'd say I'm pretty far with Athena, and 3 rounds in with Qube. I might have to take a decision quickly for Athena, that's why I'm asking.

I guess if there is virtually no chance of moving up to PM, it's not worth it.

I know that Qube should be more similar to Squarepoint than to Citadel.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
