Question on GPA

So my school (I'm a freshman) is offering credit/no credit for classes due to COVID, so I have a question about that. I got a 4.0 last semester, and would have gotten a 4.0 this semester, except for one class that due to extenuating circumstances I will most likely get a B or possibly even a C in. So I can get credit for it (it's a required class) but have it not count towards my GPA. My question is, would it be better to take the lower grade and have my GPA be at a 3.8-3.9 including all classes or have a 4.0 because I can essentially drop this class while still getting credit for it towards my major. Would banks, hedge funds, corporations, AM firms, etc. look into that and say why is he hiding this? Or would they just look at the GPA on the resume and move on? I know that many here have said that they don't look into it but a few people at my school have said they do depending on the role.

Again, I find you posting some dumbass shit. You couldn't even land a job in IB so you had to delay your graduation, I don't think its in your best interest to post about anyone else being a "noob"

Direct quote from one of your own comments. No need to lie on some Internet forum to random people to make yourself feel better.

As for me, I am actually at a top BB and will be joining FT this summer. WSO helped me get to where I am today, and people like you take away from this site with your lies and constant need for attention. You will not make it in life nor IB with this attitude. Please stop posting retarded shit that you know nothing about.
