Quick Question - Work experience?
Should the first line of any work experience be a general line explaining as a whole, what you did? I have seen it for some resume but not for others.

That's your answer. It depends. On my resume, I did it for a college newspaper I was working for so I did it for other work experience just to keep it consistent. You don't need to if you don't have to, and that line would be the first to go if I needed space because it is usually very general.
I usually do that - the only possible exception being when, for example, you're currently an M&A analyst at a BB and you're applying for an M&A analyst position at a BB. If you're applying for something more varied from your current role though, I don't assume the person reading my resume will know what my job function/title really does.
