Quitting SA

I know this is a dumb idea but what if I did it?

Currently at a REPE shop. Really liked what I was doing until I realized that I can’t do this long-term. I’ve worked on average 80 hours a week, gained 15 pounds, am super stressed, and they pay FT analysts $75K base + 35% bonus which to me isn’t worth it. Just got my first interview for FT in tech (product management), and I know I’d much rather do that and have the WLB while getting paid the same if not more.

How bad would it be to actually just quit my SA and focus on tech recruiting and hitting the gym lol?

I was in a non-finance role, and felt like I wasn’t gaining experience/ didn’t have ample time to focus on FT recruiting, so I worked out that I amicably ended my SA stint 2.5 weeks early. If you can leave on a good note then do it, but if it will burn bridges or hurt you if a future employer needed a referral, then it’s not worth it.

happens all the time... go for it

no ones asking your ex SA employer for a referral. and if they are no one is saying "hE qUiT eArLy He'S a Low doWN dIRTY LIL SnaKE iN thE GRaSS"

What's the compelling reason not to ride it out for a couple of months then look for something else?  Not wanting to do this long-term isn't one.
