Quitting T2/big 4 consulting after couple months for MBB
Has anyone heard of times where people quit a T2/big 4 consulting firm (Deloitte, LEK, etc.) to go off to MBB after a couple of months? Does that essentially close any door to come back to the former, non-MBB firm?
And for future applications, would it be better to just leave the old firm off the resume unless a full project/engagement was completed?
Hey asdfdsf, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot...do any of these help:
Or maybe the following WSO members have something to say: Kevin-Liang1234 Sherwin-Thielman John-Doe8
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
It will definitely close the door. Leaving for a competitor in general can leave a bad taste; doing so within your first year is a black mark. That said, you do you, especially if the current firm isn't a fit.
It'd be better to wait 12-18 months, that's a much more normal cycle, and it will be easier to vocalize to the MBB why you're jumping ship after you've had enough time to evaluate fit, your experience, and consulting in general. Yes, they will care, this will be a bit of a red flag to them as well. Besides, it's easier to talk through the change if you crush it for a year and have a good performance review cycle behind you.
