Ramping on a new sector

Hey guys, just out of curiosity if you are given 5 new names to ramp on in a totally new and different sector, how long would you expect to be able to trade those names in a long/short strategy? What would the ramp period be? I.e. if you used to cover energy and you were just given 5 consumer names to work into your coverage. as an example.

Basic sector workings assuming no budget I'd take 40 GLG calls and be up to speed in a week.

No budget, would take a month of mapping out random this and that and sourcing calls myself.

Anyone who says less doesn't really understand what it takes to be fully ramped on a sector.

This is from the perspective of "PE-style diligence" (SM L/S applicability, I think) so if you're just doing quarterly trading I don't know much about that.
