RE: To (All) the Colleges That Rejected Me

Just Ctl+V a reply article I found decent.

Though I think the guy is from WSO because he starts it off the same way The Phantom did. Anyone's claim?:

Don’t complain about the selectiveness of an Ivy League school because it’s an elite honour, the reason you must be a bright upstanding student on multiple dynamics is because of the fact you must prove the hoops you’re willing to jump through to earn you a place because it’s a resemblance of what you must to in the real world to climb the constantly fading corporate ladder.

When you find a missing rung on your ladder, you don’t just stop and say “oh hey, no sense in taking the risk, let me just stay here, or maybe go back down”, your suppose to say “I’m going to break a tree branch and carve out a rung, and if that doesn’t work I’m ready to crack a vertebrate or two to jump past the space”, it IS about completing challenges and overcoming obstacles and showing that you’re ready to put on the nitro and overtake your peers academically, socially, and intellectually.

BUT, it’s also about integrating that desire for reaching that Ivy plateau into social good, you must contribute to society, you must be a team player. Independence within a designated team is the bane of the modern world. Although don’t confuse this with the independence of innovation and entrepreneurial thought, which still relies on a founding team.

One common example of competitiveness is the fact that 99% of the world won’t make it to the 1% and only .01% of the 1% will ever become a Forbes Billionaire. So, who are you to complain about a 6.2% Harvard admission rate when 93.8% of applicants get rejected or waitlisted, do you wish for them to lower their standards to accomodate you? Doesn’t that ruin the happiness of being able to beat the odds and squeeze in? The world isn't statistically equal, so why should a top institution be?

Ivy League schools are suppose to garner the top frosting and makeup of the intellectual cake, so you should be expected to fully invest your time in highschool to get there, go out and get those “nine extracurriculars, six leadership positions, three varsity sports, killer SAT scores”, because if you can prove to manage that you’ve proven yourself worthy of entering a pool of people with the highest chance to make a six or seven figure income.

I was speaking to a friend and they said most likely this Suzy Lee Weiss was the type to receive a 3.9, did one sport freshman year, joined the math club senior year, and expected she was superior to the 3.5 student who adopted three leadership roles, started a business, volunteers at the animal shelter and soup kitchen Saturday and Sunday, and was district president of the local FBLA.

Suzy Lee Weiss has been determined spiteful for wasting her time and being subject to a state school because she did the bare minimum thinking the minimum was all you needed to slide into that next category. It’s comparable to receiving a 90% overall and believing you should be equivalent to someone who had studied hard for the full 100%.

Welcome to reality.

I'm not trying to attack you or anything.

I just don't think WSO needs another lecture from someone who prays at the alter of the M7.

IMO it's just sad when people idealize an institution like that.

M7 meaning the seven Ivy league schools right?

Oh okay, my bad I thought you were bashing me, I'm just the messenger.
