Received 2nd Round Interview GE FMP - Should I renege current offer?

Hey folks,

I was told a few days ago that a few positions opened up for GE FMP in their Healthcare division for full time and they want to interview me for a second round interview . I originally interviewed with them back in October for first rounds and I never heard back from them until a few days ago. Since I never heard back from them in so long I took an offer with Bank of America doing Risk Management/Internal Audit.

Now I am in quite a pickle because I don't want to pass up a great opportunity to interview with GE FMP but at the same time I don't want to get in any sh*t with my career services department at my school since they take reneging seriously. At the same time I eventually want to go into F500 corporate finance so this would be a good chance to do that but then again this 2nd round interview is no guarantee to a job and my current internal audit could be a good lateral to corporate finance if I want to transition later (from what I hear). What do you guys recommend I do?

I would really appreciate any feedback and guidance!

Don't renege until you get an offer and don't tell anyone anything before you get the offer and you should be fine.

This. A second interview is just that....a second interview. If/when you get an offer then you can worry about that.

Everything is worth pursuing. If I were you I'd see what I like more then make up my mind from there.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just wondering, do you guys think its even worth pursuing the 2nd round interview with FMP or not? Or is the BofA offer good?

Definitely. I would take GE FMP over BAML IA everyday and twice on Sundays. Check it out and you'll be able to put your mind to rest one way or another.
