Recommendations for Tailor in Bangkok

I am heading to Bangkok before starting work and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for any specific tailors to get some suits and shirts made at a reasonable price.

Highly recommend Rajawongse Clothier on Sukhomvit Road (Nana station). They wil make bespoke suits in 3 fittings for around $250. They are bangkok's favorite for ambassadors, politicians and presidents (Bush went there a number of times and had Rajawongse fly out to d.c.).

I have had 6 suits made there all impeccable, wide choice of fabrics and customization. Remember to specify the extras you want, such as working buttons and two pockets on right side etc...

Btw would not recommend going anywhere else not recommended to you by some one knowledgable. Taxi drivers and hotels will point you to places where they get commiss. Also people standing outside the shop bringing customers in is also a bad sign...

Thanks for the suggestion. I did some research online about Rajawongse and seems that perhaps they are not so good at providing slimmer fits and more modern style suits. Any comments regarding these concerns?

I would highly recommend Rajawongse as well. Maybe I'm not as "fashion conscious" as you, but when I got my suits there, they seemed to be as modern as you get in my opinion. If you bring in a detailed picture of exactly what you're looking for I'm sure they'll be able to make it. I'm tall and slender and have a slim cut suit, so not sure where you're finding that out. When you actually go there he will get your measurements and then within the next day or two will have a suits/shirts ready for you to come back in to try on so they can alter it to fit perfectly (probably up to three times as Smooth said...I only went in twice). So make sure you plan enough time to do that (i.e. go there first when you land in Bangkok). Plus while you browse they make you a drink or give you a beer. He told me his prices haven't changed in 20+ years in THB, but will change depending on the FX rate. An older guy I met there said he's been going there for almost 20 years and the only reason he goes back to get new suits is because the styles change. While I don't have to wear suits for work everyday, they hold up very well. I wear the shirts all the time and now have a few that are 4 years old and are still as good as when they were new. The other thing is once he has your measurements and if they don't change, all you have to do is email him and he'll send you fabric samples to look at and you can order shirts/suits from wherever. I'm actually getting ready to order another batch of shirts from him here again this month.

The only downside is his payment system, he doesn't take cards and when you're buying a bunch of stuff getting that much cash can be tough to get last minute if you have to go the ATM like I did and it limits how much you can pull per day. As a reference shirts are 1,000 Thai baht each and suits are 12,000 Thai baht each and shipping the order if you aren't there to take with you, are 2500 baht. If you order like I will be, you have to fedex an actual check in USD at the current fx rate. Would be nice if he had paypal or something, but I'm sure there's a reason.

The Tailor on Ten looks nice, but the shirts are more expensive (maybe they have more variety, I don't know). I would check out both and see what you like, but personally for my use, Rajawongese is the way to go for the money.

Just visited Rajawongse this week,, they now take cards Amex and MasterCard.. Quality and prices haven't changed since last visit (italian wool &cashmere blend s150-180s). I highly recommend the suits, which at 250-300 a pop are well worth the money (make sure to add in all your preferences such as open buttons on cuff, turn-up on trousers, double vents, wso/">slim fit etc when you order. ) I didn't order shirts, not super keen on them

On my last visit to Bangkok I discovered crown tailors at Sukhovomi Road (or whatever it is) and I decided to use their services as I needed 2 suits made urgently due to a wardrobe crisis during the trip. Not only did they deliver them on the promised time, but the quality of the fabric and the stitching was totally spot on. It was a hit to my budget but it was well worth it. I m planning to visit Bangkok again in a few months and I am sure to pay them a visit to get some good quality dress shirts this time.

I found myself in a similar situation a few days back. A friend referred me to Crown Tailors. I took a cab straight to sukhumvit soi 8 and there it was. I was impressed, and this is coming from a person who is a seasoned traveller and always gets his suits tailored. First of all, the fabrics; they had a massive range with varying qualities and of course, varying prices. I was a little wary about getting the suits made by tailors whose work I had never seen, but I was pleasantly surprised. The stitching is fine and seems durable, the styles they offered were nice, and the best thing is, the suits turned out the way I wanted them to. Well what else would you want from the tailor?

In Time I wander

I was fortunate enough to have an extended time in Bangkok and had the opportunity to try out a few different tailors.

Rajawongse provided decent quality but I felt the service could have been better as I felt rushed during the entire process. I also found their shirts to not fit as well and the collar and cuff to be very stiff.

My favourite tailor ended up being Tailor on Ten and had an amazing experience each time I made an order. The service was outstanding and although they only accept cash I was provided a quick lift on a motorcycle to the ATM when required. Since then I have recommended several others to the store and have all thanked me for the suggestion and were very happy with their suits and shirts.

If anyone has any questions about my experience I would be happy to provide additional details.

Whether in Melbourne or Miami, Auckland or New York, I get nothing but compliments on the two dozen or so suits, coats (not to mention trousers, shirts and even boxer shorts!) that Tailor pro at somerset lake point made for me over the course of three visits. Twice, a salesmen and once a tailor at Brooks Brothers on Madison Avenue complimented me on my tailorpro's suits and their remarkable fit and drape, mistakenly thinking I was wearing one of theirs. I still buy occasional furnishings at Brooks Bros. and Hickey Freeman, but is definitely the way to go, for style as well as cost.

"Best service I can remember getting while shopping. Very friendly and helpful. I wasn't sure about how to pick options for a custom tailored suit, but they took me through it step-by-step. Amazing product! I am extremely happy with the way my suits, pants and shirts came out and will definitely be ordering more in the future. They also have excellent ties. I highly recommended about tailor Toms Fashion.

I have been in Bangkok as a business agent for my company over the past couple of months and on seeing my suits getting a little worn out because of overuse (I have to wear them to work every single day!) I decided to look around for a good tailor and a good two hours and twenty shops later, I found myself at Baron’s Fashions. At the outlook, I like their material collections. The range was quite big and the shades were impressive. But being skeptical of the stitching, I decided to get one suit stitched and the output was up to my expectations. The fit was good and there were no visible glitches. More importantly, I liked their service and the fact that they listened to what I had to say rather than barging me with options. I decided to get a further five suits stitched from them, which were delivered yesterday as promised and all of them were well stitched. I would gladly suggest them to anyone.

Tailor Pro has been my go-to shop for all my tailoring needs whenever I visit Bangkok. I has some trouble with poor quality tailors on my first visit, but since I've been coming back every year for my business, I have found a high quality, set tailor in Tailor Pro to take care of all my dressing needs. While there are other big names in the industry, Tailor Pro just go about their business in a commendable manner, satisfying customers like me every single day. They take special care to make sure that all your design requests are addressed and they also offer a lot of advice to help you with your decisions. I would suggest Tailor Pro to people looking for professional quality tailoring services in the city.
