I would just round it to a 3.8 while you're at it. If you're going to lie why not at least make it a bit impressive.

In this scenario, this is good advice.

Either you get rejected with your 2.9, or they reject you when (if) they find out you lied. Nothing to lose.

very helpful, thanks

No problem, let me know if you have trouble rounding any other numbers to one decimal, would be happy to help out.

Sep 14, 2014

Definitely not. It would be untruthful to round a 2.92 to a 3.0 -- sorry.

i think even if you round this to 3.0, you still have no chance to be interviewed. Also I believe you may not considered eligible if you graduated three years ago unless you took a master program for the past three years

I honestly didn't know it was possible to graduate without a major. You won't land an interview for IB but if you did it would be brutal so count your blessings.

Is this a joke?

Sep 14, 2014

Would this actually be that big of a deal? Obviously OP needs to learn to round correctly, but do you guys really think anyone would give a shit about a .08 differential?

Sep 14, 2014

Yes do it. No one cares. 3.0 may make a cutoff or not count against you. Less than 3 really might. All you have to do is say a number of people you spoke with in the industry said it was standard practice (it is)...

Not a big deal. Now stop wasting time with small stuff like this, go hustle, and find a gig.

Good Luck

The only logic that would allow this rounding would also allow rounding of a 3.51 to a 4.0. It's just ridiculous. Since when is it standard practice to lie? If your grade transcript does not say overall GPA you would likely get away with it (and you might even if it is), but it shows a lack of ethics. Man up to your GPA, after all, you are the one who got it. You sat through those classes, sat for exams and ended up with a 2.92. Time to grab life by the balls.
