Sales vs. Trading: functions, type of personality and skill set for each?

I'm trying to learn a bit more about S&T and am very new to the whole field, I was just wondering what the differences between Sales and Trading are. What functions do they each perform, what types of personalities / skill sets are good for each one etc.? Any and as much info would be great. Thanks!
