Second Degree in Business
Hey Everyone,
I'm due to graduate from UofT with a degree in International Relations and Criminology. I find that after taking a few economics and finance courses, this is where I want to be heading. Specifically, I would like to get into IBanking. I'm considering the possibility of doing a second degree. Rotman and Schulich are ruled out because they don't accept second degree applicants. I'm considering Ivey but they don't make it clear if they accept second degree students. I understand people will say that a second undergraduate might be pointless but I enjoy learning for the sake of it. I would like to build strong fundamentals before I even consider tackling an MBA or a MFin. I was also considering the possibility of going to the UK for another undergrad as they accept second degree students, as do some US schools like USC, Rutgers, Purdue etc.. I feel really confused about my life right now so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Why don't you delay graduation and search for some finance internships? Tons of people get in from non-econ/finance majors. It ultimately boils down to networking, determination, related skills, and luck. Luck is a function of determination, and you must be determined. All you basically need are related skills and networking. You can learn the skills and get insightful information on networking from Breaking Into Wall Street and guides found here.

Remember, the most important commodity we have is time. Don't waste it pursuing another UG degree. Also, the harder you work, the luckier you get.
Good luck
Hey pal,
I'm in a similar situation to you and really don't recommend you doing another undergrad. If IB is where you consider yourself. Sit in for the CFA since your a liberal arts UG and consider an mba. Dals corporate residency really looks appealing to people in our situation. but as what was stated above... don't waste time with another UG.
