Series 63 Retake
Upon graduation from business school I am starting as an investment banking Associate and am required to take and pass the Series 63.
Prior to getting my MBA I was in equity research and had a Series 63 license. I worked in research until August 2010. I have heard that the 63 expires after 2 years out of work in the industry.
Does anyone have experience with this or know if I have to re-take the Series 63 during training? It would be nice to avoid another test.
When it expires, it means you have to retake it, lol. And yes it does expire after 2 years, same with the 79.
if you were employed until August 2010, then it will expire in August 2012. Are you starting work prior to then?
Tell HR that, maybe they can transfer your license in early when you give them a copy of the U5 or refill the U4.
When I saw the title of this thread I thought you'd failed the 63 and needed to re-take it, in which case I would've advised eating a box of rat poison instead.
LOL!!

Hey guys.. Bit of a problem. Passed the 79, but failed 63 by one question, 70%, 18 wrong (I know, weird). Studied a good amount and was getting 80%+ on the prac exams. Used STC for 6 online exams and the study guide book. Was really pissed as you can imagine, especially when real work has started. Coming to you guys for info on resources you used.. Really need some guidance here, CANT f**king fail again.
The 63 is really really easy. Read the book, take the practice tests 1-2 times and then pass the real test
Investopedia is great for it also. But seriously, 63 is the easiest of 65,66,7,24...etc. If you made 80's on practice then bombed the actual, I'd lean more towards you being less anxious/tired/drunk during the exam to get a better score. Good luck,
How do you fail the 63? I studied only 2 out of the 4 sections (that make up like 75-80% of the exam) the night before and passed.
Woah thanks for all the help!
Just never take it. Compliance will bug you, but you can get away without retaking. And it's just unlucky that you didn't pass, I wouldn't do anything different to prepare.
Finally, did you pass the exam? I also failed the exam by one question.. Could you please tell me how to study?
