Signing a contract while being contractually employed
Hey fellas. I'm in a bit of a bind and need some advice.
I'm currently at a BB doing DCM, which really isn't what I wanted and I took the job just because it was all I had confirmed at the time. Been doing this fulltime for 3 months now, since September.
I've also been interviewing and now have an offer for M&A at another BB. This BB isn't aware that I am currently employed as I had applied well before starting at my current BB and the topic wasn't brought up in interviews.
If I were to accept the M&A role at the second BB, I would have to turn in my resignation next month as the start date is in January and the notice period is 2 weeks. I know it's bad leaving after only 4 months but M&A is what I really want to do.
Is it considered breaking the law to sign the contract for the M&A January role right now while I am currently under contracted employment? Would I have to let the other BB know that I am currently already employed?

I'd definitely tell the M&A BB you've been working; for one, it's always best to enter into a new situation honestly, and better, the DCM work is still great/valuable experience that they'll no doubt covet. May be too late to tell them now ("By the way, didn't mention this in my 3 rounds of interviews or to the 16 people I met from your firm...").
How is the world did the M&A BB not know you already had a job?
You not telling them you are currently employed kind of blurs the line of ethics, Plus, its DCM, which is great compared to other roles
