Well to put it bluntly, this is an effective way to expand overseas business. Sumitomo Mitsui can count on the spreads from lending to private equity. Clearly, moves to purchase these types of assets will increase among other megabanks. Walt for Basel 4 to be definitely implemented and you will see m&a happen again in the FI world. The market desperately needs consolidation.
