Ecalw001:
Is there anyway i can get an internship for this summer in NY, or are they all done for? I have applied at Morgan Stanley as they had not put a deadline up, and another local IB that i recently found out has not even been built yet, they only purchased the property.. Opps.

This is perhaps the saddest paragraph I have ever read on WSO.

Do not get the MBA! (Non-target UGs are reasonable, but non-target MBAs are laughed at)

Do not go to NY because NY attracts everyone, it will be much harder for you to find something.

You want to look at other cities. You probably will not get a paid internship at this point, so focus on nailing the unpaid internships. Make a list of cities where you can live cheaply for the duration of the summer. Then, make a list of all of the boutiques with contact information in those cities. Even if a boutique only handles LBOs of lemonade stands you will add them to your list. I have never cold called on a large scale before, but I do not think 20 - 30 per day is unreasonable. Also, pickup the WSO technical and interview guides here. Read Investment Banking by Rosenbaum and Pearl.

Good luck.

I kinda feel like this is a troll, but I'll bite

What you need to do is start reading all the topics on this forum. You need to clue yourself in as to what getting a job on Wall Street actually means.

Knowing the "lingo" won't help you at all.

You're motivated, but are you motivated enough to work, on average, 80+ hours per week? Having a 3.16 gpa from a non-target is definitely not helping your chances and doesn't bode well for a career as a banker or trader, or really any sought-after position.

Aiming for NYC or any major financial center should not be your goal. Look at smaller regional firms (boutique or middle market).

DO NOT, whatever you do, DO NOT GET YOUR MBA. I cannot stress that enough. An MBA is what you use in a couple years to switch careers if you decide what you're doing sucks ass. An MBA with no full-time, finance-related work experience before it might as well be considered a joke. It's a waste of your time, money, and will not get you anywhere.
