Sophmore Needing Advice on Pre-S&T Internship
Hello currently I am a sophomore computer science major. My goal is to land a IB or S&T internship at a bulge bracket investment bank next summer (junior summer). I had a computer science internship last summer, and I am planning to return this summer.
This internship is for a startup, big data analytic company. Also, I have an offer to interview for Trade Web. com as a developer. This is not finance specific work, but I may be building the back end for financial services (not trading algorithms).
What is your guys opinion? What should I take? My previous big data company or TradeWeb?
Thank you in advance.
I would suggest TradeWeb although your GPA and school will be more important for landing your desired internship.
I would go with TradeWeb. Also, start networking at BB now. Build a relationship with Salesman and Traders so when recruitment comes around next summer, they'll want you to be a Summer Analyst
Your first step is to start networking, your second step is to start reading. If you want to get an S&T internship I think there is no better way than showing that you have done your homework and have used your own time studying the subject. If you walk into a trading interview without knowing basics of how a CDS works, or fundamental options theory you will find it hard to stand out from the hundreds of applicants.
