Sophomore Internship Choice Need Professionals plz
Guys I got 2 offers for my sophomore summer internship (don’t ask why its so late, long story) one is JPM Private Banking and the other is GS PWM. I have absolutely no idea which one to choose and I want to do a BB SA next year. GS has the brand name but in terms of work there I don’t think it will be anything substantial. From what I’ve heard JPM PB is the gold standard in PWM/PB and its also very competitive to get in my school but my main question is do the BB IBDs know this about JPM or do they just jizz over GS? Which one do you think I should choose guys? Would also appreciate it if I could get any professionals to chime in. Thanks
GS PWM by far. I hear that you can make the lateral move pretty easily (if you show you are competent in your PWM internship).
Since you dont want to do PB it shouldn't matter if JPM is the gold standard.
How did you get those two? Do you go to Wharton or something?
It is pretty impressive to get these 2 internships, but a boutique or MM IB internship would've helped him more.
JPM and GS are BB banks.
GS PWM hands down. Much better than any private banking.
GS PWM, network internally for a switch to S&T or IBD. AFG will be easier for you to get into than classic banking groups, although it's certainly not out of the question. Moving into an asset management group (all within IMD) will be significantly easier than IBD, so keep that in mind when you're looking at internal transfers (you can only pick one group). It's not as easy as iamamonkeybanker said, but the internal move is certainly possible in this case.
