Stress in Banking While WFH

Hi all - I started at a sweaty bank (think MoCo, FT, etc) and still living at home (want to pay off student loans). The extended hours & work due to MDs not traveling has really gotten to me. I can’t lift (can’t leave for an hour or so) and when my I try to talk to my family it’s always “you did this to yourself”. How have you guys handled it? I know my personality and if I don’t handle this better I’m afraid I’ll be on WSJ because “another overworked banker” does something ill regret. I’m not suicidal but when I get stressed I always isolate myself.

Thanks

Sweaty banks gonna sweat.

I dont understand why people go to moelis.  They are obviously smart enough to get offers at chiller groups at Barclay's, Jpm, boa etc.

Nothing is worth that treatment.  Especially when people are getting paid more at faang with way better work life balance.  They only treat their juniors that way because people let them and won't refuse to work at a place like that.

sorry to hear that bro. Thought moelis and FTP's culture and hours have gotten better recently from recent threads. Guess still not the case huh? Just gotta know what the light at the end of the tunnel is for you. Then focus on that and mark off the days

See if you can lateral. I've been seeing openings, and you can always talk about how you aren't a cultural fit at your current firm and the reason for you looking to lateral so soon.

I think it's busy everywhere though since MD's are trying to raise their billables at all costs to avoid being canned.

Are you sure you really can't leave for an hour? I think you have 1-2 hours to be away from the pc but the fear/pressure is preventing you from taking advantage. I can be wrong though. Try very hard to get an understanding of the schedules and find openings you can take advantage to lift, go for a job, etc.
