Men generally cannot experiment at all with their clothes in the workplace; for many of us, it's the same "uniform" every single day. Women can do pants, dresses (of varying lengths and tightness), blouses, shirts, all different kinds of shoes, and all the colors of the rainbow. Women can accessorize, they can carry (really useful) bags and handbags.

But the reason is even more deep rooted than that. Analysts can't afford to buy tailored dress shirts. When the dress shirt is fully tucked while seated, the analyst is constrained and develops serious back problems. There needs to be free range of motion for the young analyst. The vest allows for leakage of the dress shirt in order to achieve range of motion due to its ability to cloak free flowing cotton, thus allowing the analyst to continue working night and day.

It's quite insane to see it happen in real time, over and over and over again.
