Thoughts on Insight Partners
Recently got selected for an in person event at their HQ in NYC this coming spring.
I honestly could not find any info on them besides they’re a VC/PE firm with $30 billion AUM.
Any and all info is appreciated.
Amazing place. Focuses exclusively on software, and does anything from Series A to LBOs. Just raised a $20B fund, they are easily one of the top 3 largest software investors in the world right now.
Analyst role is heavy on cold-calling - your job is to source new deals and to get to know founders. You are working for one of the 6 IC partners, and each partner has slightly different focus (e.g., infra software, B2C, B2B, early stage, buyout).
Pay is as good as it gets, in line with the best-paying MF PEs, and hours are much better, probably ~60h weeks on average.

Is Insight sourcing heavy at the associate level too? Apologies if that's a dumb question.
Yeah pretty heavy - it becomes less and less sourcing heavy as you go up. Senior Associate is when your role shifts away from sourcing

Any insight on which IC partners focus on buyout and B2C?
There are a few threads on this. Insight is basically hardcore sourcing for 2 years. You're used as an analyst but if you ascend the ranks you get to do more thinking.
