Thoughts on Kayne Anderson Growth Equity?

Does anyone know about this firm? It seems like their interns and analysts are all from top targets, mostly Penn, and some from Stanford, Harvard, Yale, etc.

Seems like one of the few PE shops that hires undergrads, does anyone know much about them or their reputation as technology investors?

Not so great - there investment approach isn't venture growth per say but growth in general. Analysts will spend 100% of time on sourcing with little to no visibility for associate promotion. Kayne Anderson is focused on energy, so Kayne Partners is a small division for them. Most of the firm's background is not traditional - i.e., those coming from Penn were not Wharton grads. Cafe and free lunch is nice though

Not sure what you're talking about bruh. Their entry level position is "Associate" and they don't have an "Analyst" position so the promotion point seems false. Also if you look through their LinkedIns, many of the people have been there for a while and started at the bottom.

The point growth vs. venture growth seems valid, I guess it depends on what personally interests you.

Most Helpful

really strong growth equity group. strong track record of historical performance and they hire SA's/convert to FT hires if that's what you're looking for. Kayne Anderson also has a great platform as it's operating out of a 30bn hedge fund platform. This group specifically is like 10-15 people and their partners definitely have a great reputation within the tech space as they've all been with the firm for a while
