Toronto IB transfer to SF/ London offices?
I am an international student and I hold offers from Canadian Targets Ivey/Queens/Mcgill for their undergrad business programs. I have been interested in Investment Banking for a bit and I will be recruiting for IB while I am at university. However, I learned that US recruiting has been severely disrupted due to visa issues and it would make recruiting even harder for me as I am an international student. So my question is if I manage to get into the Toronto office of the BB Investment banks in Canada ( cuz I heard a lot of the EBs don't have offices in Toronto) will I be able to transfer to their SF or London offices later down the line?
Ik it is a lot of future planning and stuff but gaining some clarity on this issue will help me decide on my future university choice. I have been talking to a lot of people about this and any input would be really appreciated.
Not sure about SF/London laterals but have heard of TO to NY transfers. Good luck.
Thank you so much for the reply. But ain't SF easier to get into as compared to NY as basically everyone is aiming for wallstreet?
less spots in SF than NY so that'll be hard.
There's maybe 20-40 kids that leave Canadian universities to go to IB in the USA each year, and then maybe like another 10-15 who manage to lateral from their Canadian IB group to the U.S. IB group while working F/T. These numbers are probably optimistic too.
ohh aight thank you so much for your reply.
