Transferring from Brown to Cornell?

I just finished my third semester here at Brown, and I hate it here. I hate the exaggerated social justice and pc culture that seems to pervade the whole campus, and I can't really seem to vibe with most people. I'm really thinking about transferring to Cornell or some other school. I was originally waitlisted at Cornell but I've done well at Brown (not rlly hard tbh, it's been easier than HS), so I think I have a solid shot. Given that I'm interested in banking/consulting is this a bad idea? I've heard Cornell has good placement but idk. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I echo the comments above. It would suck if you showed up at Cornell and had to deal with grade deflation and SJWs. If you end up staying at Brown just make sure to stay away from the purple haired hippos lest they accuse you of raping them.

Stay at Brown.

Cornell and Brown are great schools, so nothing against Cornell, but it's going to be challenging to transfer over and I don't think you'll find what you're looking for.

1) Grade deflation vs grade inflation - Cornell is known for is difficult grading curves, staying at Brown will allow you to have a higher graduation GPA, which feeds into post-Uni recruiting.

2) Environment - you know what you don't like and it's hard to say it will be better at Cornell. Sure the school is bigger, but it's also known to be quite a liberal environment.

3) Greek life - Cornell has really cracked down on Greek life in the past few years, hard to say it will be better than at Brown.

4) Job search - Sure IB draws well from Cornell, but there's a lot of factors that play into this, the Uni is larger, certain programs are more targeted than others, etc...etc...At Brown you will stand out more and the competitive pool will be smaller.

I'd suggest sticking it out and finding ways to mitigate your unhappiness.

Good luck!

Cornell is an elite state school. Gottem

Edit: But in all seriousness, it's pretty questionable to advise the state schools over Cornell because they'll be as expensive, but have even fewer resources

My big question is Why Cornell? If you're doing well at Brown and want to transfer I'd think you could do a lot better in terms of schools to go to. You could either aim for a better Ivy, like a Dartmouth or Columbia or go with a good state school like Michigan, UVA, etc. Cornell is to me equal to if not a lesser school than Brown.

I also don't think Cornell will be that different than Brown, still a very liberal school in a relatively similar geography. At the end of the day, do what makes you happy though, if you really don't feel like you're fitting in and have spent two years at Brown, make a change, you'll regret not doing it, or you'll regret not even trying. With covid, you don't have to be on campus as much, so grind on a bunch of transfer applications, see where you can get in, and then make the decision from there.
