Transracial?

I guess you really are whatever you want to be now. I guess you have a lot more options when applying to jobs or college now.......

http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/12/us/washington-spoka…

This kills me especially, because I always got teased a lot growing up (and even more recently) for being light skinned and "not really black". Looks like I have a new blueprint for racial acceptance.

PeteMullersKeyboard: There is no such thing as transracial...your genetic code doesn't care about your feels.

Tell that to the transgender.

Not to get myself into too much hot water here...but it's sort of the same thing. There are in fact plenty of scientifically verifiable differences between genders, it's not a social construct and anyone that preaches such is as moronic and ignorant as a young-earth creationist or a flat-earther. People who truly suffer from gender dysphoria should not be treated by having their bodies mutilated to fit an incorrect signal from the brain...and frankly it's disgusting that we do this in the year 2015. We don't treat people with body integrity identity disorder by amputating the offending limb(s), we treat them with proper psychological and medical care. Why don't we do the same for people with gender dysphoria? Because the politicians have found a way to monetize them. That's all. It's disgusting.

You mean to tell me that my genes are oppressing me????

as for gender, apparently some modern views of gender have it as being distinct from sex; sex is your genitalia, gender is how you feel and is a social construct

Really everyone is oppressed when you think about it. Except white males. We can't, by definition, be oppressed. Because, obviously, we cause all "oppression"...any good feminist can tell you this.

I think even most super liberals are throwing up a wtf at this one. I have a friend who's basically a communist and thinks everyone should be a purple two headed lesbian with Native American, Inuit and Amazonian tribal blood and evil white males should pay reparations to everyone (amusingly she's from an upper class white family from Darien, went to Hampshire and is in alternative medicine, whatever that means, in SF, so basically every stereotype) and even she's calling bullshit on this one.

Sounds more like someone you know rather than a friend.

It's actually my wife. She also doesn't shave her pits or legs, has nappy dreads and uses hippie facial moisturizers every morning. Fucking sexy.

There's no difference between this and "transgender". Both are equally ridiculous and attention-whoring schemes. Just because you chop your junk off, that doesn't mean that your chromosomes change all of a sudden. I literally haven't heard a SINGLE logical argument that explains why someone could be transgender but not transracial. In fact, if anything, transracial would be more plausible since people can be comprised of more than race. Side note: Anyone ever notice how hypocritical these people are? They try to force us to accept them as normal, yet a lot of them not only bashed this lady, but played victim and made it all about them...

Here's the problem: Race is a social construct, but is still real. It's real in that others perceive you in a certain way based upon the characteristics they can see and how others perceive and react to you shapes who you are and how you affiliate with others.

So, to have the 'black experience', one must be perceived as black growing up. Clearly, this lady did not have that experience and manufactured her history. She does not know what it is like to grow up as a black kid in this country and how people perceive you as a black youth. She simply thought about what it must be like and built a costume around it.

Gender confusion is different because nobody perceives those kids as opposite genders growing up. It is something felt from within, I assume.

I'm not very eloquent (plus hammered right now), but the idea I'm trying to get across is that one scenario is how you react to people perceiving you vs the other which is what is felt internally. There is no such thing as feeling 'black' or 'white' without society. In other words, nobody would feel 'black' if there were only 'white' people in the known world or vice versa. If everyone was black (or white), it is possible that someone could still feel that they should be the opposite gender.

That's why this feels phony. And based on her actions, clearly is fake.

Here is something maybe better written that might be close to what your getting at:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/18/opinion/charles-blow-the-delusions-of…

But at the same time, what your saying about having to grow up with the black experience and manufacturing something that is a white person's view of a black experience... the same can be said for gender.

I am honestly having a hard time with this one... Anything I hear that people tell me means the situations are different doesn't seem to be logical because the same things can be said about both situations... They say its different but it doesn't actually seem different.

A man deciding to be a woman without having had all the negative experiences that a woman had... a white woman deciding to be black without having had all the negative experiences that a black woman would have... seems too similar to me...

Could not agree more.. If anything race is superficial, gender is not.. gender differences go right down to your DNA (or chromosomes.. you know what I mean.. it is pretty fundamental).. just chopping some body part off is basically mutilation.. also, from a medical perspective, I do not believe there is or ever has been different drugs for different races but there are different drugs for either gender..

It was unreal to see media figures who are cool with the transgender community go crazy about how this lady is so very much in-the-wrong
