I know UBS gets a lot of shit on this forum. I am wondering how UBS TMT in both SF/NY are doing now since they have been hiring senior TMT bankers from other banks. How are their exit opps, pay, dealflow, etc.

UBS SF TMT > NY. I think most of the TMT MDs are located in SF, and NY mostly does Media & Telecom, though deals are often cross-staffed
Source: Friend at 1 of the locations
I'll be an SA at UBS. The group has 10 MDs (5 in NY and 5 in SF). SF works on tech and NY works more on telecom and media but also some tech deals. Therefore there are cross staffings. They also are a rapidly growing group with many MD hires in the last two years. Culture wise, I think its great and I got along with all the juniors. It's a close knit team and they get lunch and all of that together. This is for NY
How has the TMT team been rapidly growing with many MD hires but only have 10 MDs? Does that mean TMT had like only 5-6 MDs before?
Because all the decent ones have left lmao. The NY team is weak AF
Don't listen to this dude. TMT use to be one of the worst groups at UBS in terms of deal flow. Now it is one of the top 2 groups
horrific and terrible dealflow. avoid
Interested
it's decent
I'm sorry what are the UBS NY TMT deals announced and closed for the past four years? Not your bs LBO deals where sponsors choose banks with the most aggressive terms (not because your bank brings in the most laughable LBO ideas to sponsors). Your bank is taking capital risk when they can't syndicate the debt. I'm talking about real strategic M&A. When's the last time UBS a lead left (or even active bookrunner) in an IPO? Passive bookrunner roles mean nothing.
FYI - UBS management has been "investing " in TMT for the past 10 years after the Raine / Liontree guys left. Results? Deals?
Who have exited to 'UMM PE" for the past five years? Don't kid yourself
To add on this -- UBS Tech west coast is not a power-house you're making it seem. They focus on LMM deals. Ex- JEF MD's when CS moved in to JEF.
bump
Bump. Any sense for culture of this team (with respect to the associate level)?
UBS SF is a slaughter house. Avoid
Mind sharing what this is based on? Did you work there? Friend works there. Would appreciate if you'd PM if you're willing.
