UC David Pepper spray Incident - Didn't happen the way it was made out to

I know this video was posted on here when the video of the officer pepper spraying the students started making its rounds. I came across this gem about what REALLY happened this morning:

Its disgusting that a lot of these officer's lives were destroyed because of an edited video that was put on the internet.

lol... turns out those little crybabies deserved it. god they are pathetic

^^ I know right. The edited video had even me thinking that the lead cop was a douche, but after seeing this, he had more patience than I would have. They knew damn well what they were doing and what the repercussions would be (he told them one by one haha). I would never put myself in front of a police officer trying to take my handcuffed buddy to his cop car. You know why? Cause I'd get arrested... and more than likely my ass beat. I'd never be able to actually stop them, they got way more backup and guns than necessary to handle me.

Oh, and I'm not a complete idiot.

Haha studying too much B.S in business major and get your asses whipped all day at the office turn all of you into pussies and morons. It's shills like you guys who need to be pepper-sprayed.

Alright, throw ms at me brosssssssssssss

Nobody wants to work for it anymore. There's no honor in taking the after school job at Mickey D's. Honor's in the dollar, kid.

This is why no one takes this bullshit OWS "movement" seriously. Law abiding Americans who want change see these criminals and realize this isn't how things get done. These guys never represented the majority of Americans, just a tiny majority. The only way they can even attempt to gain sympathy is by misrepresenting what when on and editing down the video to make it seem like the police were in the wrong.

I never doubted the cops right to pepper spray those criminals and now this video is proof. Bravo.

Per the usual. Liberals only use facts that get them what they want, yet somehow think the entire story is not necessary.

As the user who posted the edited version of the video on here. I feel used and abused that I was stupid enough to fall for OWS bullshit. They deserve what they got, they were even treated super nice by the police.. Given so many opportunities to go with no problem but instead they think they can entrap the police? We don't live in a 3rd world country where our police don't matter this is America and this needs to stop.

Down with OWS.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

If you watch the video you will see the police providing numerous warnings, clearly explaining what the kids were doing was wrong, what would happen, etc. The students disobeyed and continued to be in violation. After 12+ minutes they finally used non-violent and non-lethal means to stop the stand off.

The police continually try and find ways to do their job while causing the minimal damage to the criminal. Pepper spray sucks, but it isn't permanent. Shit, back in the day cops used to use billy clubs to get the job done.

Cops just shouldn't enforce the law. You forcibly arrest someone and you get sued, you pepper spray someone and you get sued, you do anything other then allow people to disregard the law and disobey and you get sued.

You break the law and disobey the cops and you are going to regret it. If they thought their rights were being violated they could have allowed themselves to be arrested and file a complaint the next day and sue. Instead the goaded the police into action, disseminated a false and misleading video and now cry like babies.

Criminals. Every single one of them.

I don't know, I mean all the incidence of violence that happened with OWS occurred when they resisted arrest. You protest, break the law, cops come, you get arrested to make your point and you sue to show the world how your rights were infringed on. When you start resisting the police it taints your cause.

When you put cops in the position where they either look like bitches or enforce the law, they will always enforce the law. Sucks, because the cops were pushed to do something that really didn't need to be done. Then again, the police cannot just walk away.

They are just the messenger. The administration that issued the order or the courts the do nothing are the true violators. Cops just process the order.

A large group of people surrounded and gave demands to a heavily outnumbered police crew. Again, great composure on their part. In their shoes, we'd all be pissing ourselves. Never know what a mob is going to do next.

I respect the fact that they remained so calm. I'm sure that many other people (myself included) would have gone off on those kids sooner, and in more harmful ways, than they did.

I am also pretty sure that surrounding police officers and demanding they release people they have just arrested crosses the line of peaceful protesting..

oh, yea, that large and very threatening crowd of students definitely 'blocked' the way of the police. i can see why they, with their riot helmets, clubs, and pepper-spray felt the need to spray timmy smith and other 19 yo english majors from so cal with pepper spray until they were evac'ed to the hospital for chemical burns. what a fucking joke, fire the dick head who actually sprayed them and suspend the rest. suspend the students as well for being so disruptive.

My drinkin' problem left today, she packed up all her bags and walked away.

If you want to sit down, risk getting arrested and pepper sprayed (like they warned them), and make a stance like that, good for you, god bless ya... but if you're gonna make a manly stance like that, don't cry like a little bitch when the inevitable happens. If all they did was not cry about what they knew was going to happen, I'd have a lot more respect for them... but for now they just look like antagonists that cry when they get hit back.

Chemical burns? They got pepper sprayed and went to the hospital. No bones were broken, no cops injured. If you think the police forcibly arresting everyone would have had a better outcome you are joking. The cops can't just wuss out. They were sent to remove the students and when they refused to go they took it to the next step. Pepper spray was less lethal than a taser or a club and it got the job done.

They completed the task using the least force needed.

Yes, they went to the hospital for chemical burns.

The problem with people like you (whether 'conservative' or 'liberal', really it's all the same hypocritical bullshit) is that you like to focus on certain aspects of an event, and then twist that event to support your views, which were already pre-determined before an event took place. I don't really give a fuck if they 'only' pepper sprayed them (and have you ever been pepper sprayed? Didn't think so. Because you'd know if you had how fucking painful that shit is) or verbally abused them or raped them with cattle prods. The fact of the matter is that the cops blatantly abused their power, if they were actually concerned by that 'mob' of students they would have sprayed the people standing up. They should all be punished. The students? They're certainly guilty as well and I'd fucking suspend them too if it was my decision.

You'll never get to that conclusion by looking at facts because you have a fucking agenda and it'll trump any logic presented, so shut the fuck up about OWS and all related topics because you're getting to troll status with the way you march through these threads and call everyone 'liberal' who doesn't agree with your cookie cutter Fox news point of view.

I have a fucking agenda?

I watched that 13 minute video. I saw the police issue countless warnings and orders to leave. I saw the police attempt to leave only to be surrounded by angry protesters. I saw people breaking the law, being told to peacefully stop or they would be pepper sprayed and finally, when you couldn't warn them anymore, they were pepper sprayed.

The police then arrested the people and took them to the hospital for treatment. Wow, so inhuman.

You are the one with the agenda. This video was released showing only a short clip which made it look as if the cop just maced them as a first response. This video shows the entire thing, start to finish.

Comparing this protest to the founding fathers or the civil rights movement is absurd. This has neither the moral justification or the historical gravitas that these past movements had.

In summary, suck a huge dick. If the Tea Party did the exact same thing and disobeyed the police like these kids did I would 100% support them getting maced in the face.

It always amazes me when people defy the police and then complain when something happens. The cops are just the enforcers of the law, not the creators or the decision makers. It is like bitching at a process server and not the lawyer or the company suing you.

I suppose the cops should of issued 10 warnings and then just went home and allowed the law to be broken and their authority to be disobeyed.

So the Civil Rights Movement amazed you?

These were not the students surrounding the officers. Watch the video, you can see that they were surrounded by other students. They pepper sprayed the wrong kids. And maybe the kids shouldn't have been arrested and the officers were in the wrong. If the order to clear the camp ends up being proven illegal, and the police were acting on illegal orders, isn't it the people's duty to resist?

The police execute the orders given to them. They are soldiers. If the orders are illegal, the person who issued them will be held responsible.

Civil rights movement? You mean the movement that did something by changing laws and electing people who supported their stance, not attacking police? They also didn't have pepper spray back them, they just used water cannons.

Also, comparing these kids to the civil rights movement is insulting to the civil rights movement and ludicrous.

Suppose you weren't speeding and a cop pulls you over to give you a ticket. And you fight back and disobey the cop. He gives you numerous orders to do so and you just tell him "I wasn't speeding, this is unlawful". Guess what, you are going to be tasered and rightfully so.

if you think the law is wrong you go to court. You don't disobey the police after countless warnings. Pepper spray was 100% warranted.

Um, they were the students surrounding the officers. They didn't pepper spray alllll of the students surrounding them (that would have been quite the sight though), just the ones who were blocking the path they were trying to use.

It is a waste of time. Liberals will always support breaking any law which doesn't benefit their goals. Just like those worthless Democratic politicians that left the state of Wisconsin, preventing the will of the people from being exercised.

I got to mace my brother's friend once, everybody else payed him and I got to do the actual spraying... he's one of those kids that becomes an obnoxious asshole when he drinks sometimes, so it was glorious.... right in the eye balls. It was recorded, but I think I lost the video.

This has nothing to do with this incident, it just reminded me of it. If any of you get the chance to throw a couple bucks to a dipshit friend and mace him in the face, I recommend you do it. Laughs will be had by all... except for whoever gets the faceful of maceful.

Also, didn't some chick on Fox News try to say that Pepper Spray was essentially a food item? I feel like I read that somewhere.
