UCLA Shout Out
To all my fellow bruins out there, just want to start thread for all those potential or current bankers who spent their college days in Westwood. I especially want to use this thread for all those Juniors and Seniors shooting for 2012 SA or FT slots this upcoming recruiting season.
So go ahead, post your story on here, so we can do some old fashioned online true bruin networking.
Bio about me: Rising Junior in Biz-Econ who has worked in PWM at a BB and IB at a boutique, trying to land a SA spot for 2012 at any BB or else on the list of the usual suspects(Lazard, Moelis LA, Greenhill, and HLZ FRG LA).
hey man, you shoudl also check out our groups...not sure if there is one for UCLA monkeys, but if not you can easily create one and try to get other members from UCLA in there.
surprisingly UCLA does no have a strong network. Have a few buddies there and have repeatedly got this complaint from them. They will be glad when I tell them about this.
Good luck
UCLA student here also, Math/Economics major. Looking to get into S&T.
Don't want to get too personal, but I think I may have introduced myself to you at orientation. Your work experience sounds very similar.
Not a student at UCLA, but go to a school roughly 25 minutes away. Did a risk management internship this summer, going into a boutique IB internship for the Fall. Out in Westwood (Diddy Reise, Habibi's, In N Out) all the time. Count me in if I'm allowed, haha.
^^^ lol. USC student.
I'm a rising junior working at a boutique right now.
I'm not sure how effective it will be networking on here. From what I've heard almost all the good networking comes from the Investment Banking Workshop.
UCLA network sucks. I've gotten more out of my LSE degree networking with LSE alumni within this year than networking the past 4 years with UCLA alumni after graduating.
Making a group would do far more for you than an open thread. Just my $.02.
HELLO FELLOW BRUINS!!
I'm a rising senior. just recently got into finance, so i'm still pretty new at all this. probably going to recruit for SA 2012.
Are you excited to start school??? noooooooooooooooo T___T
Rising senior ... summer analyst? Doesn't happen bro.
Hello Bruins,
Undergraduate Business Society is hosting a workshop on September 24th at UCLA. You guys should all sign up if you are interested. The details for the event are here: http://libla.eventbrite.com
3rd year econ student. Interning at a small PE shop right now in century city, before that I interned at a small PWM shop in k-town. Looking to get a school year internship at a boutique and use that to possibly leverage my way into a SA at a BB. Bruin network is pretty weak--I read in other threads it's cause of the sheer diversity of goals at UCLA. I've been really trying to reach out to boutiques and even MM banks to try to find some internship opportunity during Fall but I haven't really been successful yet. A lot of MDs and VPs will reciprocate my calls but for informational interviews not for internship possibilities. Those of you who interned at a boutique--did you go through bruinview or network on your own?
