Urgent question -leaving your job after one months
Working in strategy consulting and I am miserable. I don't mind the work of the hours but my boss is making my life miserable. It is a boutique firm and I havent received any training although I have got solid project experience under my belt.
I am getting severly berated and bullied everytime I ask for help or clarification. She looses patients with me so quickly.
She shouts at me and treats me with no respect. She has also made personal comments about me.
There is so much more stuff I have had to put up with but I would rather not mention it.
I want to hand in my notice tomorrow but I have a problem.
I interned at this firm for 6 weeks and I have only been officially working for 1 month.
How would quitting this firm after one month look on my cv?
Especially since I want to get into investment banking. Especially since the next short term job I get whilst I'm networking will be not related to finance. Will it be hard for me to explain this backward step?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If you leave a job after a month I would save the hassle and just not put in on my resume honestly
What kind of strategy consulting does the firm do and what projects have you worked on so far? Is it well-known? Location?
How do you mean what kind? We basically work with the executive board of firms and help with strategy etc.. It's bases in London. It is well known in the right circles
Q: "What kind of strategy consulting..?" A: "strategy"
Currently work at a boutique M&A firm and was in a similar situation. Frankly, I don't take shit from people no matter who you are and I refuse to be disrespected. I wasn't disrespectful to my boss but I gave him a few hints here and there that I wasn't his bitch and now he kisses my ass. Mind you thing is at a 10 person boutique firm and I'm good at my job so it's a little easier to get away with but it definitely worked. Don't let people walk over you. Fuck them
My boss also knows that in all reality I could beat the living shit out of him so there might be a slight intimidation factor as well. He's def a hard ass but I showed him lmao
To put it in context, my boss has made previous Analysts cry before. Over my dead body would that ever happen to me lol. Get some respect for yourself.
What sort of things did your boss do to make people cry? Just wondering how bad my boss is in comparison.
I'm with you on not letting people walk over you. An internal "customer" of mine from a different business unit tried going behind my back to several members of upper management saying I wasn't doing my job and that the work should be transferred to someone who knows what they are doing... Responded to my key PoCs and laid out what happened explaining that the problem was not because of me but because this person had ignored my e-mails requesting further information. Attached copies of the e-mails I had sent.
Got applauded by the people who matter and it was a big tool in conflict resolution for my team to essentially move forward and say people cannot cry wolf anymore. Fuck people who are assholes.
You should totally quit and aim for a job in finance - I heard that no boss in finance is a douchebag.
