Verbal Offer but Official Letter Delayed?

Superday'd at a BB 2 weeks ago and received verbal offer the next day and was told I would receive official offer letter by Tuesday of next week. Come Tuesday HR rep calls me and says there is a slight delay and when I asked why she wasn't very clear. It's now almost a week since then and I am getting worried.

Could they rescind my offer after giving me verbal confirmation?

I’d each this completely. Don’t stop your groove until they’ve furnished a written offer letter.
