VP Base Increase?
Looks like most Analyst and Associates have received communication on raises. Anyone know if VPs are getting a bump? Asking as my bank pays VPs and up a flat $250k.
Assuming it wont be going up but wanted to check? Maybe some of the lower VP paying firms like RJ @ $200k for VPs may bump them up to get at least in line with the new Asso3 comp of $225k.
What does RJ pay aso 1-3?
I doubt it since you're pretty far along the IB track by the time you hit VP and your universe of exit options has narrowed considerably. Not to say that there aren't great exit opps for VPs because I think they do exist, I just don't think banks need to worry about VPs jumping ship for other roles the same way they do about analysts and ASOs
Totally disagree with your conclusion. While their exit ops are more limited, VPs can easily jump to other IBs paying more. There is a huge discrepancy in VP pay right now. I don't know how RayJay can continue to pay so low when others are paying in the mid to high $200s
That’s fair, I didn’t realize pay wasn’t as standardized at the VP level and thought RJ might have just been an outlier based on original post
Can't they go to PE, corp dev/strategy?
Think it’s hard to go to PE at VP level and the average Corp dev role would pay significantly less
To give you a data point, I’m a VP at top lev fin group (jpm, bofa, citi) and my base is 275. I was at another lev fin group until a few months ago and my base there was 200.
If you don’t mind, what’s your expected all in comp? Is bonus 100-150%? Also, how much could someone in your situation expect in stock vs. cash bonus? Thanks
100% bonus is a good baseline for VP1. Banks vary with deferral but at my bank, 30% of any bonus above 100k gets deferred over three years. 25% of that deferral pays out the following year, another 25% the year after that, and 50% the final year. If you've worked at the bank a few years, it's not too bad because you get backfilled from previous years deferred bonuses for what you lose this year. It does suck your first year though.
I expect all in to be 425 to 450. I’m not greedy and feel that’s fair for a vp1 in lev fin. Would love to hear what other lev fin vps actually make at other shops.
I don't think all banks communicated associate bumps and even less did for VP. I think because analyst bonuses are on the summer cycle they addressed those first to kind of keep people from leaving. Since we are on a year end cycle maybe more come around and communicate raises then. Although it would make sense if they raised all around before extending offers to summer associates and stuff. Who knows.
At my bank associate bumps were communicated at the same time analyst bumps were.
Think the issue is more that as3 base comp is very close to VP now. The jump between AS3 and VP comp for banks that didn't bump is the same as the jump from AS2 to AS3 in terms of base.
Agreed. I'm still adjusting but As3 at $225k is high (not complaining $$). If VPs get a bump over $250k they would need to bump all SRs as from what I know, base doesn't go too much higher than that. Though one MD once complained to me that UBS was paying MDs $400k base which I could tell he envied.
I’ve always thought most firms have MDs at a base of $400-500k
have never met somebody envious of UBS either tho
From what I have heard. MD, Directors and VPs (sometimes) really start to get their comp from their bonuses not their bases.
Which banks have increased VP pay?
Barclays has
What’s vp base now? 275?
What's the Barclays VP base pay now? I heard it's still $250?
Noop still $250 first hand experience
Bumping this. Any info on VP bases being bumped?
If a few VPs are seeing this, what was your A3 bonus as a % of your base?
Older data points, but most associates I know that got the VP promote were above 110% bonus (vs. base)
What type firm were you at?
Baird bumped VP base to 250.
AO3 bonus was 180% of base at time of promote in (450 all in)
Holy moly
Thanks! With the new ASO3 base of $225k I bet total comp comes in around the same at $450k with 100% bonus. I can't imagine seeing 150%+ off of the new base levels.
What’s the new VP base at Barclays?
Still $250 unfortunately
Were the VPs not part of the base bump last summer? Pretty sure they were on the call with us...
Believe BofA is now $275 base and Wells is now $250
Anyone know Jeff / Baird / Blair VP base comp?
Baird is 250.
For some reason, I thought it would be higher but oh well.
Blair is also 250
For some reason, I thought it would be higher but oh well.
Blair is $275 for VPs
Jefferies is also 250.
For some reason, I thought it would be higher but oh well.
Does Jefferies still does that cash bonus clawed back if you leave within a year? I've read on this forum before but I never quite understood that entirely - doesn't that mean you always lose your last year's cash bonus if you leave banking (deferred was always meant to be paid out in future so you'd obviously forego that part)?
Would appreciate if someone could help me understand that!
Harris Williams vp base is 225
Does anyone know HSBC's current VP and Director base?
follow
Anyone know GS associates base all levels and VP?
I’m pretty sure any decent bank pays their VPs a base of 275k.
think some banks who have VP base go up by year don't necessarily start VP1 at $275k
Have heard multiple 1st hand accounts on US BBs (JPM, MS, Citi, BoA) having a new 275k base for VPs. Flat across all years
Sadly PE hasn't caught up..
JEF VP is $275k.
Truist VP is $275k
CS is $275k
Associate 2 makes 225 base at MS
Anyone know the London associate figures for MS?
Pretty sure that’s at Asso 3
175 / 175 / 200 / 225
