Watch question--Quartz vs. Automatic

I'll be starting as an IB analyst and looking to pick up a watch for a couple hundred bucks. Is there any reason to get a lower end automatic (i.e. Seiko, Tissot, etc.), or would it just be a hassle to have to constantly reset it? Would it be better to get a quartz watch? I know very little about watches but have heard that automatic is better according to "watch snobs". Thanks for any advice.

You won't have to reset an automatic watch if you wear it everyday, only if you let it sit more than however much energy it holds (normally more than 24 hours).

I wear a mechanical watch everyday, which is what you're referring to, one that needs to be wound everyday. I don't find it annoying and I hardly ever need to reset the time because I wind it full in every morning and that usually lasts to the next day.

I also wear a vintage 60s Omega, it's a really classy and clean watch. Scooped it up on eBay for around 350$ a few years ago. Same price range as you're talking but vastly superior quality, craftsmanship, history, and value.

Edit: found the exact watch I wear on eBay. Looks to have tripled in price...
