Weird dilemma: SAT vs Series 7?
So this winter break I will have to decide whether to take the Series 7 or the SAT/ACT. I am in community college, and never took the SAT in HS. The PWM firm I intern at gave me Series 7 material to study to get more of a finance background and said I could take it if I want. For college, I will be applying for transfer to a number of targets and semi targets in the spring and the SAT is required for about half of the schools for transfers(ie- expanding options of schools). Also, when applying to a BB, MM or EB, I have heard they will likely ask for standardized testing scores on the application(I suppose I could take the GMAT later down the road and give them that). I am stuck on which test I should sit for this winter break(will be taking a heavy courseload this fall), so any advice would be appreciated.
Also, I'd prefer to be working in/applying to trading and AM positions if that makes a difference(IB is always a consideration though not my top choice).
Thanks in advance!
SAT. Can always do Series 7 later.
Unless you want to do PWM for the rest of your life, do the SAT/ACT.
Series 7 is basically pass/fail and you need to be sponsored to keep your credentials. Take the SAT.
SAT it is. Looking into signing up soon. Thank you for the insight.
SAT. Just as a piece of advice, the best way to study imo for the SAT is to crank out practice tests. My parents paid for an SAT tutor when I was in high school but that didn't do jack shit for my score. I was able to raise my score more than 200 points by taking 4 practice tests each weekend.
100% agreed. When I took my RE test the best thing was the practice tests. Could you PM me your recommendation for what program you used for those practice tests?
I used the book of practice tests that CollegeBoard sells. Also I just remembered that I studied with a book called The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar, which helped me get all the multiple choice correct for the Writing portion; however I am not sure how applicable that is now that the SAT is different.
