What are my chances - Admissions to schools like Tuck, UNC, UVA, etc...

I know this question has been asked a million times but I'm hoping to get some advice on my chances for admission to schools like Tuck, UNC, UVA, Columbia, NYU, etc...

My undergrad GPA is 3.2 in Finance from a not so known school, made Dean's List 3 out of 4 semesters of my last two years, while working full time and attending class full time as well. Because I worked full-time it took me two more years to graduate and I have a few W's on my transcripts.

Also, I think this issue can be easily fixed but I just wanted some advice, I stopped taking classes in 06 with the assumption of my graduation I received a job offer in New York and moved there, the school I went to didn't have my new address and wasn't able to mail me a problem they had with my transcripts, I finally got in contact with them and fixed the problem and long story short they posted my graduation as 08 how bad does that look?

My Work Exprience has been in Investor Relations for 1 Year and since then I have been working for a major Utility in Florida managing a number of cross functional teams that are responsible for setting the companys customer rates. I am also involved with a program that helps former juvenile delinquents find jobs through out the community and volunteer about two hours a week.

Id appreciate any advice, thank you in advance for your help!

For your b-school application, you need to round out your story. What do you want to do coming out?

Your undergrad education is not typical, but with the right story, the admissions council should be okay.

I would suggest getting a bit more work experience for two reasons. Firstly, the job market isn't great right now. Summer internships are tough to come by once you enter b-school. Work a bit more, buy some time, and you'll enter b-school at a much better time for employment. Secondly, think about what you want to do when you exit b-school and work backwards to see if you think you can get there. Your MBA could replace our undergrad, but the work experience may be lacking compared to your peers.

The Juvenile Dilinquents program looks great on your application.

Make sure you focus on your career path and signs that you have shown leadership.

When you say a not so known school for undergrad, what type of school are you speaking of? Is it a well regarded school ( top 40 or 50 nationwide) or an even lower ranked school. In other words, is it a complete non-target. If so, your GPA will have to be compensated by a high GMAT 710+. Secondly, what was the problem with your transcript? Were you missing a course and had to complete it to get the diploma? Or was it a clerical error which had nothing to do with you. I would fight with them and get them to correct the graduation date. Doesn't make any sense to me at all. When you say that you manage a number of cross functional teams, are you indicating that you have teams who report to you and in essense work for you? If so, how many people report to you.

Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate the help.

Marine the school I went to is a complete non target school so I agree with what your saying in regards to the GMAT, thats around the number I was expecting. The problem with my transcript was a clerical error, I took my foreign language credits in high school and my high school didn't send the correct paper work to the college.

In regards to managing cross functional teams, I manage different people from different departments within in the same company, I have 2 teams of about 10-12 people each who report to me.

Eric, Im sorry I didnt post this before but I would like to go in to IB. Also, I was thinking about applying for august 2010 do you think that would be to early?
