What do you think about the IBP Credential?

IBP Institute
Investment Banking Professional Credential

I would like to hear your opinions, especially from the ones who aspire to be in IB, currently in, or anybody who has already served their time in IB. Perhaps mention that here and whether you come from a target, semi, or non-target since we could better understand your perspective.

Do you think this would become the standard for to start a career in IB, or just a way of standing out?

Do you think this would help finance graduates from non-target universities leverage themselves during networking and potential interviews?

Do you think the IBP Credential could become as recognizable as the CFA, FRM, CPA etc?

List any opinions you have...

I think it depends on the efficiency of the candidates with the certification on the job.

Might get shit on for this but I don't see this as anything more than a cash grab until proven results.

It's a 1000+ bucks, has very minimal use that you can't already get in WSP courses or M&I, and is advertised as IB's gold standard certification like the CFA to ER/AM. Not to mention the amount of prep is similar to the CFA.

I'm sure this program was created for the purpose of profiting, just like any other. The entire credential is about $1700 unlike the CFA, which is $2400. The CFA is very broad and goes over several aspects of finance which is great for investment managers. The IBP is obviously more hands-on since you submit financial models and presentations, and focuses on the IB world.

Actually, WSP is part of the IBP Institute. It seems like a good idea, but maybe wait until the big firms start to recognize it.

Yeah nothing more than a cash grab. I'm sure there are plenty of people who think this will get them in IB but it's less useful than spending the same amount of time networking. I don't blame Patrick. There are a lot of people who think the cfa, ibp, or msf will magically erase their lack of experience. It simply doesn't work that way.
