What is a "safe space"?
I keep hearing about them but haven't actually witnessed this in person (I dont live in the US). Can someone give an example?
Best description of one gets showered with SB's, make me laugh WSO :-)
ps yes i could google it / ask my friends, but you guys are entertaining
Here you go:
Hilarious and yet so true
In regards to American universities:
They are sometimes actual physical rooms set up to deal with the emotional trauma of a controversial speaker being invited to campus (see Milo Yiannopoulos). They will have stuffed animals, coloring books, soothing music, etc.
More generally, a desire to create a "safe space" is used to justify censorship, arguing that opinions offensive to some students should not be voiced publicly, or at all, because they may frighten some students and make them feel "unsafe". It is the fighting words/shouting-fire-in-a-crowded-theater argument for speech restriction except the "fighting words" or shouting "fire" include any potentially offensive statement (eg Transgenderism is a medical condition, immigration into the United States should be severely restricted, abortion is murder, etc.) and the crowded theater is the whole world.
Lol are you serious. They have real rooms set up?
How prevalent is this on college campuses? The Chinese/Koreans/Russians/Everyone else are going to eat our lunch in the next 20 years, if this is where college kids are at today. Fear and oppression of ideas is not where our country needs to go. It's like the far left and far right are merging into one giant fear storm.
It's very prevalent, and has even reached Ivy League institutions. Search up "Campus SJW" on YouTube. There's a few thousand hours of brain melting content that will make you want to use your 2nd amendment right through your temple.
College student here, safe spaces are very prevalent. There's one about a 45 seconds walk from where I live, says "safe space" on the door. I thought it was all a meme before I actually went to college.
My alma mater has the double whammy of safe spaces and flag burning on campus now!
wow, just wow
not sure if srs
stop fucking with us bro

This is what happens when you give kids a participation medal or trophy so they don't have their feelings hurt. As someone above pointed out, at this rate we're going to have our asses handed to us by nations such as China, Russia, and others.
I hope to GOD none of these kids go on to be bankers, consultants, or work for F500 corporation because the slightest ass chewing they get they'll probably run off and cry.
Makes me seriously consider mandatory military service to whip these puscakes into shape or perhaps the Spartan way needs to be adopted?
As someone who comes from a country where military service is mandatory for all males (Singapore). I can attest to how military service shapes up us citizens. Though i can't speak much about myself, I've seen pretty drastic changes in the attitudes of some of my friends after going through military service. Having a sergeant yelling at you at 5am in the morning really helps to burst the bubble our parents made for us.
But then again, don't think our army can compare to the hell US soldiers go through in training.
This thread triggers me
I blame helicopter parents who condition little Johnny that the world is one big bubble revolving around them, that life is fair, and they deserve whatever they want.
Once they leave the bubble for the first time, they can't handle the fact that problems actually do exist in the real world so they have mommy and daddy protest to the school. Guess what Johnny, it turns out that you actually aren't that special. 100000 people are better than you at your best trait.
Better run to the safe space where you can be special again and shielded from reality.
Life isn't fair, if you can't get what you want, better improve yourself instead of looking for excuses. I'm sick of this PC bullshit.

Between this and emotional support or anxiety dogs....I just don't know what we are coming too. Does the rioting fter this election speak to people's general political reaction or millennials inability to cope with losing. In life there aren't medals for 8th place.
