What is something meaningful I could do in the summer after freshman year?

What specific types of early underclassman internships/experiences are consulting firms looking for in your resume? Would something in the general finance/business are be relevant enough? If I am interested in healthcare consulting and public sector consulting specifically, would something medical/healthcare/business or law/business related be helpful?

Something in general finance/business would be great. I worked at a home improvement store summer after my freshman year, while it's cool to get relevant experience that early on it isn't typical or necessary. I wouldn't sweat it either way.

I would make sure you have some experience to make you ready for internship recruiting for next year though, e.g. a leadership position in an organization where you can demonstrate an impact.
