What kind of questions are valuation analysts asked during interviews at hedge funds?
Title says it all. I am interviewing at a mega hedge fund for an entry level valuation analyst position. What are the questions I should expect to be asked during my interview?
Depends what you consider "mega HF"
30 billion in aum, but the relevance is not about the size of the fund. It is more about the type of questions they would ask for this type of position within hedge funds.
What exactly is a Valuation Analyst? Is it a regular fundamental research analyst? Or is it about marking the illiquid holdings in the portfolio?
Here’s what the job description called for: 1. Building models and conducting rigorous analysis 2. Doing primary and secondary research 3. Streamlining / maintaining valuation processes
Sounds like a fundamental analyst role....except for the "streamlining/maintain valuation processes". Sounds like updating proprietary compsets.
Firms are getting creative and more specialized with the titles.
