what should I do in this situation?

Recently, I cold-emailed an alumn, who is a partner at a bank, to set up an informational interview. He has been very responsive before the chat. During the conversation, he was very willing to help me given that I have graduated and still don't have a job. He asked me to send him my CV. However, after sending him my CV, I have not heard anything from him. And for my subsequent emails/text messages to him checking the progress, he does not reply. Is this kind of situation very common, or did I do something wrong (such as appearing too aggressive, asking for help in too many departments, as I said I would be open to various departments.) And what should I do next if I still do not hear back from him after a week. thanks!

It could mean one of the following: 1) He is extremely busy or has personal matters to attend. 2) He did not find your resume worthy enough to push through the recruiting process and got cold.

I would just let him be if he went silent and you're not getting a response to your follow-ups. If he wants to talk to you, he'll reach out eventually, don't you think?

Hi, thanks a lot for the quick response and insight. I don't really think it would be the second case, as he said he was quite impressed with my experiences during the phone conversation (i.e., he knew my studies and experiences before my sending him the CV). I was wondering could there be a third scenario, where the alumn asked the HR department for me right after our conversation; and the HR told him they are not hiring. In this case, usually would the alumn give me a headsup, or is it assumed that no news equals no chance? I guess I am still a rookie to read between these lines and have yet to learn the norm of the industry...thx.

There could a number of scenarios which you can come up with if you wanted to. I know waiting game sucks and it's not fun when your contact goes silent all of sudden. Don't dwell on it and just move on to your next networking contact.
