What should I do to secure an interview with a 3.5/3.6 GPA? (MBB+ T2)

I'm a current sophomore at a school in California where Bain recruits and the remaining while BCG and McKinsey take a couple interns every year. I've accepted an offer from a F100 consumer goods company that is well-known.

I have a 3.31 GPA right now but at the end of sophomore year I should have it bumped up to a 3.5X/3.6X. My first question is whether I should drop a course I'm taking now to make sure I have a 3.6X gpa or is the difference between a 3.5X GPA (.05ish difference) and a 3.6X not that significant.

I know my GPA is on the lower side but I'm hoping brand name and networking makes up for it. This leads me to my next concern. The company I'll be working at has a lot of ex-consultants and I'm planning on networking with them. My end goal of the networking is to get an internal referral for each of the places I'll be applying to so I would at least have an interview. Although I know how to approach people to ask questions and learn more about their backgrounds, I'm not sure whether ex-consultants/managers would be able to get me referrals. Therefore, should I network and cold email current consultants and ask them to do practice cases and eventually ask for an internal referral or network during my summer internship only.
