What Title/Position Corresponds w/ Deal Sourcing

In development, at what point is it customary for your firm to expect you to start sourcing deals and contributing to deal flow? I can’t imagine MD’s rely on an analyst/senior analyst to do this...is it more associate and up, or VP/Director and up?

If you were expected to source deals for your firm, is there any reason that you wouldn’t demand a piece (participation) of deals you sourced, or is it more common for participation to be bestowed on an employee after they have successfully brought in a couple of deals on their own?
