Which Fixed Income Desk is popular now at the Bulge Brackets?
Hey Guys,
I am a junior studying Finance (major) and Mathematics (minor) at a non to semi target. For my internship next year, I wanted to know which Fixed Income Desk in Sales and Trading are currently more lucrative. I would also appreciate any resource to learn more about the products and market.
I look forward to the responses.
Dollar Bill, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Maybe one of these threads could point you in the right direction:
Hope that helps.
Kind of a weird question. Go with what your interested in as desks go in and out of style

Most banks have a treasury desk within S&T that lends to other desks. They usually prop trade with their balance sheet, but have a limited mandate (US rates).
Mortgage desks are usually at the top of the food chain, especially at banks that have strong securitization platforms as traders have constant deal flow to work with. Credit would probably be second, along with ABS. HY Credit is strong, and then Muni's would follow. Money Markets would be last in line, short term products generate less P&L as a whole. Keep in mind if you're at somewhere like BAML, credit will be number one as they're book runner on like > 20% of all transactions done annum so it's heavily dependent on the bank. As far as learning FI as a whole, my favorite is Bodie Kane - it's the book that got me into the industry.
What is the Bodie Kane book you're talking about?
