Which Offer Should I Take? Goldman Sachs C&R vs Solomon Partners
Hey all, I recently got offers to lateral to both GS' C&R group and Solomon Partners (as a generalist but they are mostly C&R focused). Was wondering which y'all think i should take. Some of the factors that matter a lot to me, IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE are: Prestige, Pay, Culture, WLB, and Experience. I know many consider Goldman to be the king of C&R but I have seen a lot of discussion on the forum about Solomon Partners being a top tier industry-focused boutique with stellar wlb and culture.
Goldman Sachs
Prestige - GS
Pay - most likely GS, they paid a lot this year, not sure abt PJS
Culture/WLB - PJS analysts weren’t the one that put together a deck saying foster care was better than IBD… speaks for itself
Experience - GS
GS lol why is this even a debate
IMO just a typical WSO “offer decision” / brag post
biased here but i'd say take the offer from SP. SP and GS are the same caliber when it comes to types of deals (albeit it SP works on smaller deals than GS). it really depends on what type of environment you value in terms of working at a BB where you'll have a lot more people staffed on a deal vs an EB like SP where the teams are pretty lean and you are given much more responsibilities. When it comes to pay, although GS is the highest paying BB, you'll always receive higher comp at an EB and SP pays really well. Plus the culture and wlb at SP is unmatched. however when it comes to prestige, nothing beats the Goldman name, i'll give them that.
At this point I feel like the PJS shilling has gotta be some elaborate troll/inside joke
After clicking his/her profile and reading the comments, I really hope it is haha. So odd. I kind of suspect that this post was made by their alt account.
Has to be. Nobody considers PJS an EB that actually works in IB
Seems like it. Posts have been popping up left and right. These guys can't be serious
> same caliber
> smaller deals
???
What were the Solomon Partner bonuses this year if you don’t mind sharing rough #s. Is it really up there with GS or the EBs?
Would personally recommend PJS for yourself, hopefully there you will find others who are as confident as marking themselves on the same tier as GS.
