why chinese student feel so piss off when we are comparing india and china

im going to china next year so im interesting in chinese culture and stuff , i have found that chinese students in my uni are very upset about the comparison between china and india . I was talking to a chinese student about india and china and he was so angry with it because he said india and china are not comparable and seems like chinese dislike indian a lot , everytime i mention the word"chindia" chinese student would be very unpleasent with it , why? is there any issue between chinese and indian? (i think it is because china is well developed than india and chinese are kind of proud of china they are very patriotic )

ChrisHansenI would replace "patriotic" with nationalistic, paranoid and neurotic.

Man, the irony.

if you're referring to americans, at least we don't freak the fuck out over land disputes and set foreign car dealerships on fire.

also, we aren't totally corrupt, and have some regard for human life.

Where could you possibly be from? I'm having trouble figuring it out.

They don't like to be compared for the same reason an Irish person doesn't like to be called a Pollock. For the same reason a Korean might smack you if you called them Japanese. For that same reason, a Dominican would flip some chairs if you called him a Puerto Rican. And anyone from South America would seriously consider first-degree murder if you called them Mexican.

Now where the hell are you from that you don't realize how ignorant that question is??

People don't like to be confused for other nationalities due to histories, past conflicts, and general cultural differences.

That said, I want to dedicate this post to asserting the ignorance of ChrisHansen.

The OP is hilarious.

On a side note though, I have a 0.o look on my face whenever Chinese people complain that they can't understand Indian accents/make fun of Indian English. Just...really? Really?

Genghis Kahn comes to mind. Communism vs Capitalism comes to mind. Two really shitty countries comes to mind. Two countries that don't really pride themselves on diversity comes to mind. Basically people being people comes to mind.

"Incoming cfa level 1 charterholder" You're telling me China is clean and has no pollution? lmfao There's a reason why there are Chinese signs in European cities that instruct you how to take a dump in the toilet...

when i called india a dump i didnt mean pollution (even though it is slum central).

i meant poverty, crime rate, its status as rape capital of the world etc.

I’m Chinese. I think the new generation of China, including me, has the ambition to be the top of the world someday, but not still be compared with a neighbouring country. I don’t think the western society know both of us a lot. If you are going to China, I suggest do not talk to much on politics or make criticism, maybe because it is part of the culture. To me, I am not afraid to be compared with others, I just don’t like the attitude of being judged by prejudice and arrogance, which have existed since the last century from the western society, and also being provoked. so just avoid the comparison, no one likes that. In this perspective we are the same as the rest of the world.
