"HATES" is probably a bit exaggerated but it is clear that the Pope does not approve of Bankers.
According to a recent statement by the Pope, chasing money and making a career your primary goal in life does not ensure "peace and joy":
Pope Francis advised against making the pursuit of money, a career or success the basis for one's whole life, urging people in his Epiphany remarks Saturday to also resist "the inclinations toward arrogance, the thirst for power and for riches."
"Instead of conducting themselves in coherence with their own Christian faith, they follow the principles of the world, which lead to satisfying the inclinations toward arrogance, the thirst for power and for riches," Francis said.
He urged helping the poor and others in need of assistance, giving freely without expecting anything in return.
In many ways, I think the first two of these statements depict an accurate description of a typical banker (if the stereotypes are true). There is no question that many high-end finance jobs are known for their long hours and very appealing pay. I am sure many of you can attest to this.
Occasionally questioning your life choices can be a good thing, especially when you are still figuring it all out.
No matter how religious you are, do you think the motives for pursuing a lucrative career, rather than something more humanitarian, are justified?

At one point in his life the Pope had the option of being a simple parish priest, living a life of poverty and pastoring to his community. And yet he chose to become a bishop and then a cardinal and then the Pope. I'm sure he would like everyone to believe that climbing the ladder of the church was god's will or something but the truth is it required ambition and work on his part. And yet we're supposed to believe a worldwide celebrity monarch (the Pope IS a monarch afterall) is more modest than some random banker or executive making a couple hundred thousand a year. Okay.

Regardless of faith, overt hunger for riches and power does corrupt and, when achieved, can (and often does) lead to arrogance. Again, no problem with what he said here.

Yea bro, you should probably assist those in need as success includes alot of luck (try being born in the Congo during civil war and becoming succesful). So again, no issue with this statement.

I certainly think that leading a humanitarian career is a great way to go.....that said most people who claim to be doing this are really just living laid back lifestyles working for non-profits where they collect paychecks from the charity of others and rarely actually help anyone.
Ever meet anyone that works 80 hours per week for a charity? Me neither...
In short, working for others is great. Pretending to be a humanitarian to pump up your own self esteem while working an easy job is perhaps an even more bullshit route than living just for money and riches. If you're gonna do it, go all the way, but don't do the standard BS that most mean by a "humanitarian" career.
